      • A buyer persona is a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on market research and real data about your existing customers. 

        Contrary to a few salespeople I have worked with, it is not an exact biography of every person who buys your product, by job title…

        When created well, the persona helps you understand who your customers are, what they need, and how they make decisions.

        OK, well, back up - follow this process:

        1. Ask yourself who you think your ideal buyer is. Look to your customers, LinkedIn, and in-house to understand who these people are, where they work, and what they care for.
        2. Use your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) to narrow down your search for information on your persona.
        3. Look at LinkedIn endorsements for quotes on how colleagues describe the buyer.
        4. Take to SparkToro and UberSuggest to understand topics they love and where they go for their information.
        5. Sit down with sales reps and customer success to figure out their common objections, how you’ll overcome them, and assign content to address it – if you’re missing content, you need more!
        6. Find a photo that resembles the persona, use a background remover app to add it to the photo, and then add your company logo on the top right of this downloadable persona sheet.
        7. The result should be a persona you can save as a PDF, upload to HubSpot, and use daily.
